The present study has been based on the interpretation of the results of coastline impact zone measurements of the analysed section made in 1961, 1973, 1982, 1900 and 2003. The data was made available as boundary layers in the shp format. To read and interpret the data Quantum GIS 2.8.1 software was used, with the help of which a database containing detailed information on changes in the location of the shoreline (understood as the base line of the cliff/dunes) in individual years was created. For the purposes of this study, the measurement data was read every 200 m, but to clarify the stake diagrams presented in the further part of the article, these data were aggregated for sections of 1 km. The study has been supplemented
with photographic documentation.
As a result of the conducted analyses, it was proved that:
– sections of intense erosion on the shores of the Ustka Bay are quite stable, as evidenced by data from cartographic analyses (Zawadzka-Kahlau 1993, 1994, 1999, 2012) and comparison of surveying results (Salik 1979, Florek et al 2008, 2009, 2010) and the results contained in this study,
– the longest section of the shore, constantly undergoing erosion, is located east of the Słupia River mouth, in the immediate vicinity of the port breakwater, while the length of this section continues to grow despite various protective measures (construction of groynes, bands, nourishment, and recently, beyond the analysed period of measurements, also the
construction of underwater waterbreakers),
– the longest accumulation section is located west of Ustka port breakwater (km 234-237), which, similarly to the location of the continuously eroded section, can be considered as a proof that the breakwaters of Ustka port are a dominant factor determining the location of sections with constant development tendencies.
