Formation and development of rural settlements of the Frederician colonization in Łódź Province

Abstract

The article analyzes the formation and development of spatial arrangements of Frederician colonization in the contemporary borders of the Central Poland. In the first part of the analysis, the analysis covered the results of research on the initial stage of formation of spatial systems. Three main forms were laid out to layout the villages of: city streets, linear villages and the concentric-radial system. Then, the transformations of spatial arrangements that took place in the 19th century were discussed. The chapter presents the spatial enlargement of settlements, mainly through the development of buildings. In the next part of the article, the analyzes included spatial expansion of the Frederician colonization in the interwar period. In the last chapter, the contemporary colony morphology was analyzed.
