THE ALPS AS THE DESTINATION OF POLISH EXPEDITIONS TILL 1989

Abstrakt

This article presents selected Polish climbing expeditions to the Alps to 1989. It focuses on more important Polish expeditions which helped to identify new mountain areas, delineate new routes of varied difficulty, both in summer and winter. This paved the way for further trips of Poles to higher mountains of the world, obtaining necessary experience, treated on par with the results of mountaineers of other countries.
