Old maps are highly useful in solving contemporary problems of the research and widely used in various scientific disciplines engaged in detecting relationships between the elements of the geographical environment. Firstly, this is due to greater awareness about the unique information stored on old maps that were in their time of most use as a base material for other cartographic studies. Secondly, this is a consequence of the increased availability in digital form, and the emergence of computer applications included in Geographic Information Systems.

For the characteristic scale of changes that have occurred in the geographical space one should get to know the degree of accuracy of the former map. A review of published literature on the subject content-related research old maps indicate that the general methods of analysis can generally be divided into geographical and historical and cartographic-mathematical (Konias 1984). In contrast, modern computer-cartometric method of analysis of historical maps using the application MapAnalyst accelerates and enables iterative approach to research and increases accuracy and reliability of results than using traditional manual techniques (Beineke 2001, Jenny 2006, Jenny, Hurni 2011).

Subjecting the credibility of the VIII century Vistula map by FF Czaki based on new technological solution MapAnalyst application using local disturbances created an image that became helpful in reaching hypothesis whether they result from misdiagnosis or providing the terrain, and are they the result of the displacement of occurred content elements on the map.
