The influence of local resources on functions of rural areas

The aim of the study is to analyze the influence of local resources on functions of villages. Local resources were divided into two groups: internal local resources (primary and secondary) and external local resources. In this approach, as the primary internal resources were assumed the elements of the natural environment, while the secondary internal resources – elements shaped as a result of human activity. The existence of external resources results from the neighborhood of the village with other settlements (such as large cities, tourist and industrial centers) or elements in the space that strongly affect the surroundings. The existence of specific types of resources shapes the local potential of the villages, creating various functions and directions of their development. The article also discusses the examples of villages that use the potential of local resources in a special way.
