Counteracting flood effects in Jelenia Góra

Abstract

The aim of the article is to assess the flood protection system and the spatial policy of the city in the context of the flood. Authors verified the hypothesis in the article: ‘Reducing negative impacts of floods in the area of Jelenia Gora is possible with the use of available forces and means’. The study rated the flood protection system in Jelenia Gora, existing technical solutions and crisis management. The focus is on the assessment of spatial planning in the context of the flood risk, spatial policy of the city and the provisions of the local law. Authors formulated recommendations based on the research. Their deployment and implementation will help in the future to reduce the negative consequences of floods in the city.
