Floods in precinct Maciejowa in Jelenia Góra – spatial aspect

The aim of article is to analyze the occurrence of floods in the city of Jelenia Góra, its impact on the functioning of the environment in some respects, the evaluation spatial policy of the city in the context of the flood and the creation of recommendations and solutions, the implementation of which would give a chance to reduce the effects of floods. Authors verified the hypothesis: ‘Counteracting flood effects in Maciejowa is possible through appropriate spatial policy’. The study identified the main factors of floods in Maciejowa, as well as factors influencing their scale and scope. Then, there are presented effects posed by flooding in the study area. Authors formulated recommendations and solutions based on the research. Their deployment and implementation will help in the future to reduce the negative consequences of floods in Maciejowa.
